사우스햄튼과 FA컵 32강 경기에서 1-1로 비긴 직후 인터뷰에서 무리뉴 감독은
"사우스햄튼이라는 좋은 팀과 상대를 했다. 그들은 마지막까지 우리를 압박했으며 득점까지 성공했다. 하지만 일단 우리는 생존한 상태다"라고 말했다.
"물론 어려운 길을 걷게 됐다. 치를 필요가 없었던 재경기를 마주하게 됐다. 하지만 어느 것이든 탈락하는 것보다는 낫지 않은가. 어려운 길이지만 지는 것보다는 낫다. 재경기에서 열망을 가지고 승리를 위해 노력할 것이다"라고 덧붙였다.
